What Should Be Considered After Eyelid Aesthetics?

Eyelid aesthetics, medically known as blepharoplasty, is a popular surgical procedure that provides both aesthetic and functional benefits. This surgery is performed to eliminate complaints such as sagging, puffiness, and excess skin on the upper or lower eyelids, giving the person a younger and more dynamic appearance. However, to achieve a successful result and accelerate the recovery process, there are several important points to consider after eyelid aesthetics.

It is completely normal to experience mild swelling, bruising, and sensitivity around the eyes during the first few days after surgery. To ensure this process is as comfortable as possible and minimize the risk of complications, patients should apply cold compresses, rest with their head slightly elevated, and take their prescribed medications regularly, as advised by the doctor. Cold application within the first 48 hours helps reduce swelling and bruising more quickly.

During the recovery period, rubbing the eyes, applying makeup, wearing contact lenses, and putting pressure on the eye area are strongly discouraged. Additionally, during the first few weeks after surgery, heavy exercise, bending forward, and smoking or alcohol consumption should be avoided. Since sensitivity to sunlight may occur, wearing sunglasses when going outside is essential to protect the area.

Hygiene plays a critical role during this process. The area with stitches should be kept dry, and no products other than those recommended by the doctor should come in contact with it. Stitches are typically removed within 5 to 7 days, and follow-up appointments should not be neglected during this period. Regular doctor visits after the surgery will ensure the process proceeds safely.

When the necessary precautions are followed after eyelid aesthetics, the recovery process is faster, and the aesthetic results of the surgery will be more natural and permanent. With proper care, swelling around the eyes will subside in a short time, scars will fade, and a more youthful appearance will be achieved.
