What are the methods for eyebrow lifting?

Kaş Kaldırma Yöntemleri Nelerdir

Brow lift methods are procedures performed to improve a tired, unhappy, or harsher facial expression caused by the eyebrows gradually moving downward over time. When we talk about brow lift methods, we are not referring to a single procedure; different options may be considered depending on the person’s facial structure, the degree of brow drooping, and their expectations. In some patients, a small Botox touch may be enough, while in others, volume loss may need to be supported. In more noticeable cases of drooping, a surgical brow lift may be the more appropriate option.

At this point, the important thing is not simply to lift the brow upward. The main goal is to achieve a more rested, open-eyed, and natural appearance without disturbing the facial expression. If the brows are lifted too much, the person may look more surprised or artificial than they actually are. For this reason, a brow lift procedure should always be planned by evaluating the entire face.

  • A brow lift with Botox can be performed in patients with mild brow drooping.
  • With filler, the brow area and temple region can be supported.
  • A surgical brow lift can provide longer-lasting results in more noticeable drooping.
  • A thread lift may offer a short-term effect in some patients, but its permanence may be limited.
  • The most suitable method is determined after an examination, according to the person’s facial structure.

Why Does Brow Drooping Occur?

Brow drooping often develops slowly, so the person may not notice the change right away. It usually becomes noticeable when looking at photos, when a heaviness is felt in the eyelids, or when the face starts to look more tired than before. As part of the aging process, the skin loses elasticity, connective tissues loosen, and the brows gradually begin to move downward due to the effect of gravity.

Genetic structure is also very important. Some people naturally have a lower brow position. In some patients, the way the facial expression muscles around the forehead and eyes work can affect brow position. Volume loss in the temple area can also leave the outer part of the brow unsupported. Therefore, when evaluating brow drooping, it is necessary to look not only at the brow itself but also at the forehead, eyelids, temple area, and the overall facial structure.

How Is a Brow Lift Performed?

A brow lift can be performed with Botox, filler, or surgical methods, depending on the patient’s needs. During the initial evaluation, the degree of brow drooping, whether the drooping is more prominent in the inner or outer part of the brow, whether there is excess skin on the upper eyelid, and whether there is volume loss in the temple area are examined. This is because the underlying problem is not the same in every patient.

In mild cases of drooping, non-surgical methods may offer a more practical solution. However, if the brow has descended significantly, if it puts pressure on the eyelid, or if the patient wants a longer-lasting result, a surgical brow lift may be more suitable. The healthiest approach here is not to recommend a single method to every patient, but to evaluate the facial structure and plan the procedure the patient truly needs.

Brow Lift with Botox

Brow lift with Botox is one of the non-surgical methods we prefer, especially in patients with mild brow drooping. There are muscles around the brow that pull the brow downward. When the effect of these muscles is reduced in a controlled way with Botox, a slight lift can be seen, especially in the outer part of the brow. This effect is usually natural and soft; in other words, it does not completely change the patient’s facial expression.

However, Botox does not provide the same result in every patient. If brow drooping is significant or if there is serious skin laxity, Botox alone may not be sufficient. Also, the effect of Botox is not permanent; muscle movement gradually returns over time. Therefore, a brow lift with Botox is more suitable for patients with mild drooping who do not want surgery and are looking for a natural refresh.

Brow Support with Filler

Brow lift with filler should not be considered a procedure that directly lifts the brow upward. The main purpose of filler here is to support the volume that decreases with age, especially in the temple area and around the brow. When volume loss occurs in the upper face, the brow appears less supported, the eye area looks more hollow, and the facial expression becomes more tired.

In suitable patients, when this area is supported with hyaluronic acid-based fillers, the upper part of the face can look more balanced. Sometimes this support may also help the brow appear to be in a better position. However, it would not be correct to expect a surgical-level lifting effect from filler. Filler is more of a complementary procedure that improves the overall balance of the face and supports the brow area.

Surgical Brow Lift

Surgical brow lift is preferred to achieve stronger and longer-lasting results in patients with more noticeable brow drooping. Especially if the brows have started to put pressure on the eyelids, if the person constantly tries to lift their brows to relax the visual field, or if non-surgical procedures are no longer sufficient, surgical methods may be considered.

In the surgical procedure, the brow position is rearranged in accordance with facial anatomy. The aim here is not to lift the brow as high as possible, but to bring it to a natural level that suits the patient’s face. When planned correctly, the eye area looks more open, the gaze becomes more lively, and the facial expression appears more rested. The most important point is to proceed without exaggerating the result and while preserving the patient’s own facial character.

Why Is Thread Lift for Brow Lifting Less Preferred Today?

Thread lift for brow lifting was once a very frequently discussed procedure. Immediately after the procedure, a certain lift in the brows can be seen, and this initial effect may satisfy the patient. However, since the lifting effect of the threads can decrease over time, the result may not be maintained for a long period in every patient. For this reason, the thread lift method is evaluated more selectively today.

The brow area is a very mobile region. Facial expressions such as smiling, speaking, looking surprised, and squinting affect this area continuously throughout the day. This movement can reduce the permanence of a thread lift. Therefore, in patients who want more predictable and longer-lasting results, Botox, filler support, or surgical brow lift options are more commonly preferred.

Which Brow Lift Method Is Suitable for You?

The most suitable method depends on the cause of the patient’s brow drooping. In some patients, the problem is related to muscle balance, and Botox may be sufficient. In others, volume loss in the temple area is more prominent; in this case, filler support may be a more appropriate approach. If there is more advanced sagging, a surgical brow lift may provide a more effective and lasting result.

In general, method selection can be considered as follows:

  • If there is mild brow drooping, Botox may be suitable.
  • If there is volume loss in the temple area, filler support may be considered.
  • If brow drooping is noticeable, a surgical brow lift may be more appropriate.
  • If a more natural and subtle change is desired, non-surgical methods can be evaluated.
  • If a long-lasting result is the goal, surgical options may come to the forefront.

Why Is a Natural Appearance Important in Brow Lift Procedures?

A natural appearance is very important in brow lift procedures. This is because the brow is a structure that directly determines facial expression. If the brow is lifted more than necessary, the person may look surprised, tense, or artificial instead of younger. Most patients do not actually come in saying, “I want my brows to be very high,” but rather, “I want to look more rested and better.”

For this reason, the patient’s facial proportions, eye structure, brow arch, and facial expressions should be evaluated together when planning the procedure. The same brow shape cannot be applied to every patient. A good result often comes not from large and obvious changes, but from small touches that are harmonious with the face. In a well-performed brow lift, people around the patient do not notice the procedure; they simply notice that the person looks more lively and refreshed.

What Should Expectations Be After a Brow Lift?

Expectations after a brow lift vary depending on the method used. Non-surgical procedures such as Botox and filler provide a softer and more natural effect. A surgical brow lift, on the other hand, can offer a more noticeable and longer-lasting result. Therefore, before the procedure, it is important for the patient to clearly explain what they want, and for the physician to clearly explain how much improvement can be achieved with each method.

Realistic expectations are the most important part of satisfaction. Brow lift methods can make the facial expression look more open, rested, and lively. However, every method has its limits. When the right patient, the right method, and the right planning come together, brow lift procedures can provide results that are both natural and positively improve facial expression.
