What Should Be Considered After Eyelid Surgery?

Eyelid aesthetics, medically known as blepharoplasty, is a popular surgical procedure that provides both aesthetic and functional benefits. This operation is performed to correct complaints such as sagging, bagging, and excess skin in the upper or lower eyelids, giving the person a younger and more dynamic appearance. However, in order to achieve a successful result and speed up the recovery process, there are some important points to consider after eyelid aesthetics.

In the first few days after surgery, mild swelling, bruising, and sensitivity around the eyes are completely normal. To make this process more comfortable and minimize the risk of complications, it is very important for patients to apply cold compresses, rest with the head slightly elevated, and use the medications recommended by the doctor regularly. Cold application within the first 48 hours helps edema and bruising decrease more quickly.

During the recovery process, rubbing the eyes, applying makeup, wearing contact lenses, and putting pressure on the eye area are definitely not recommended. In addition, heavy exercise, bending forward, smoking, and alcohol consumption should be avoided in the first weeks after surgery. Since sensitivity to sunlight may also occur, sunglasses should always be used when going outside, and the area should be protected carefully.

Hygiene plays a critical role during this process. The stitched area should be kept dry, and no product should come into contact with the area except for the solutions recommended by the doctor. Stitches are usually removed within 5 to 7 days, and check-ups should not be neglected during this period. Attending regular doctor appointments after surgery helps you go through the process safely.

When the points to consider after eyelid aesthetics are followed properly, both the recovery process becomes faster and the aesthetic results of the operation become much more natural and long-lasting. With proper care, swelling around the eyes decreases in a short time, scars fade, and a younger appearance is achieved.
